Senior Highlight - Meet Riley

Her love of trucks and this is the face I remember most…she has always been a more serious listener than smiling talker…love that she’s true to herself!

Sniff…Sniff…This one hits a tiny bit harder. Riley is the baby of our family…and she is graduating today! We are so proud of her.

Let’s go back a tiny bit, this fierce little firecracker has been keeping us on our toes since day one…when she entered into the world 4 weeks early and on Father’s Day. Passion is something we saw in her from early on, she likes to set goals and reach them…but knows and understands there is always a fall here and there. I can say without a doubt when she has had tough obstacles in her way she gets right back up and climbs over them. We have watched that little girl grow into a young lady right before our eyes, and I am not lying when I say it feels like it was in the blink of an eye. Truth be told, as her Mom, I have definitely tried to hang on tighter this past year, but in true Riley fashion she loosened those reigns herself and has taken off to reach for her future-and we could not be prouder of her! We are all honored and grateful to have a seat watching her go after her dreams this Fall at College of Lake County- Fire Science!

I had a chance to sit with Riley and ask her some questions-enjoy the Q/A below:

Q: Who was your favorite teacher and why?

A: “My favorite teacher is Mr. Fries, he is so down to earth and overall a nice guy. He always sits and talks to me and my friend and just lets us rant with him about anything! He’s such a great English teacher”.

Q: What was your biggest challenge in high school and how did you overcome it?

A: “My biggest challenge in highschool was not trying. I didn’t try my freshman year and sophomore year as much as I should have because I didn’t think I had to. Junior and senior year hit me hard and it’s when I tried harder,, and put my all into my future. Now I am ending with 4.0”.

Q: If 2026 were a movie, what would the title be?

A: “If 2026 was a movie title it would be “The closed door to the frame opening”.

Q: What is your go-to comfort food after a long week of classes?

A: “Go to comfort food has to be a nice medium rare steak and green beans. Hands down”.

Q: If you could have any superpower right now, what would it be and why?

A: “Mental strength. If that should be a thing. So I can learn to have a strong mindset and a confident mind for my future work”.
